How did you find out about CAP?

How did you find out about the Civil Air Patrol? Share your experience with us today.

I first learned about CAP from a exhibit the Nighthawk Squadron had at Cabelas in Fort Worth, Texas.

My dad had to give a speech at my squadron's annual awards ceremony. I went with him and needless to say I've been hooked ever since.

I just was talking to some guy that I didn't even really know. He told me about CAP, so I Googled it. I used a unit locator, went to a meeting one time...and I've been coming ever since.

One of my dads friends was a member. He invited me to come, and I did. Loved it ever since.

Dad had heard about CAP when he was in the AFA and told me about it and we looked into it and here I am today.

Found out about it through a friend. Went to visit what I thought was the closest squadron, and a short time later sent in a membership app.

I found out two years later that there was actually a squadron closer... glad I didn't go to that one as my first visit

My dad was career Air Force and I had been living on AF bases all my young life. I loved watching the planes doing their thing. Decided around my freshman year in HS that I wanted to be a pilot. The base had a CAP squadron, so I joined, thinking it would be the fast track to accomplish my goal. It worked!

Okay so I found out through the alternate school because a cadet in the squadron I am now in needed his blues pants hemmed and so they called my mom, he decided to tell her about it and ive been in for two years now! I have found my one true love hehe

My father was a squadron commander back in the 1950's

My BFF told me about CAP because he was moving, and he goes 'hey, I'm leaving the squadron,. if you join, in three months you will be the flight sergeant'. I was like...okay. And I'm still here 2 years later

One of my Profs caught me doing a naught thing with a couple of subdued Oak Leaves. He was the WVWG Vice Commander.

A friend in 8th grade, 1977 or 78. Unfortunately I didn't stay in due to JROTC in high school. Rejoined in 2001.

I found out about it through a friend (who quit CAP last year).. and I have been in it for a little over a year now.

I found out pretty coincidentally. I was at my grandma's in Virgina, and every 2 years I get a flight lesson. Well there was another cadet there (just a guess) who told us about it. From there on until I joined, I had been obsessed by the idea and was REALLY anxious to join.

After my 12th birthday in November we accidentally procrastinated and when we finally remembered, it was almost winter break, so I had to wait another 2-3 weeks to go to the first meeting

I was interested in CAP by a member in CAP who my mom knew his grandpall. Cause she did work for them

I found out about CAP by visting my college/career teacher and she told me about CAP. The next day I went to the nearest squadron near me and joined. I'm a faithful and dedicated cadet to this day!
