I normaly use Vanguard

I buy mostly from The Hock Shop.

Since both are critically under staffed, there are a lot of problems with them. Some orders are double charged, some items don't ship at all. The Hock generally has better prices though, so that's what I use.

Once I ordered a tie-tack from the hock when I was an airman basic... it got there when I was a master sergeant they've gotten way better in recent times though, and I've heard bad things about the Vanguard, so I use the hock.

The hock shop is pretty good, but I have noticed that the items they send are pretty low quality. for example buttons are almost falling off of BDUs and such. I would still chose the hock over vanguard though for its fast shiiping I have experienced.

I have noticed that ribbons from the HOCK are a micron smaller and, when put on the ribbon holding bar, the bar seems to "cut" the ribbon making it fray.

Aside from that, everything had been fine.

Except for stuff with CAP on it (patches, tapes), I get all of my stuff via surplus stores.

They also charge out the whazoo on shipping prices. One time I had to cancel the order to get my stuff. I try to get my stuff on post. Close, convenient, have it in hand, and not Tax from local surplus stores.

Vanguard

I prefer buying from the Hock Shop. It's faster, except that $5 shipping for everything no matter what you buy, wether it's a huge price or it's just something small. To me, that's the only downfall for the Hock Shop.

actually my surplus store specially orders for me. So I don't use either. Although my new cadets spend wasteful money on hock's premium ground team package.

Since I participate in a lot of activities, I usually need stuff REALLY quick. A while back, they would take weeks to get stuff to you, but they have definately improved.

The other day, my father (Lt. Jaynes), needed a white aviator shirt within the day. So, we went ahead and chanced it with the next day shipping, and it got there 4 hours before we needed it on the same day.

TIP: I have found that with the Hock, if you say that you need it very quickly in the section where it says "special instructions," it tends to get to you much quicker.
