So, with category 5 Hurricane Gustav coming heading toward the Southern US, what steps are YOU taking to ensure you are ready if you are called out to do SAR work?

Oh, I am sure that there will be plenty of opportunities for that. Also, Corpus Christi people out there. If the hurricane directs off its course just a tad, it looks like yall might get a hit. Like what is the Corpus Christi Squadron doing to get ready it it gets near?

Yeah, my unit has been activated and we'll be moving out to help with the shelters tomorrow.

(I think Gustav is only CAT 3 though)

It had been a CAT 5, but then lowered to a CAT 3 from what I understand.

As we likely all know by now, it's onshore and dumping lots of rain. Thursday, units/resources from Group IV will be converging on D.W. Hooks Airport NW of Houston to fly damage assessment flights. I'm a teacher, but I'm sure my principal can do without me for one day to help out.
