Re: So, what are your long and short terms goals for CAP!!!
Well, my goal for this upcoming fall/winter is to make MSgt, along with wanting to attend a CTEP. I may also try to go back to the TX Wing encampment on staff this winter. Another one of my goals, was to recruit 25 people to my squadron by the end of the summer. I know it sounds like a lot, but I am halfway there almost. ....AND, if we are looking long term, I hope to get my Mitchell this time next year. As a short term goal, I hope to travel around a little bit this summer and maybe meet up with Troy somewhere and have a little bit of CAP chat. I have a lot more, but not enough time to talk about them all. |

Wow, Staff at Operation Iceburg. Could you tell us more about it, I've heard of it and even seen patches for it on e-bay, but what does it entail?

Re: So, what are your long and short terms goals for CAP!!!
Okay, Operation Iceburg isn't A SAREX technically it's its own class. It ussaully happens say january and goes for a whole weekend. Cadets provide their own food and shelter. Here's an example of a day:
Friday-Setup
Saturday-Training in everything from GTM3 to GTM1
-possible day sortie
-Night sortie
Sunday-
Pack up
Big sortie envolving everyone
Leave
That's just a general statement but it's really fun.It was my first training mission so I didn't know what was going on. Umm the ELT's are hard to find their in trees, totally covered up, etc. On sunday they actually have parts of torn up airplane that they put about 3 miles away from base camp. This event is open to everyone that has GES. I belive we had one cadet from wisconsin one time. Ohh and the coldest it ever got was I think
-15. If you have any questions feel free to ask them. But sorry for the

Hate to say it, but one day is not enough to training everyone in GTM3, 2 and 1. At least not adequately.

The CAP Regs, for the wearing of the Ground Team badge, do make allowances for certain Ground Team schools. Wings are encourgaed to host them. There will be one in Brownsville in the Winter.

Re: So, what are your long and short terms goals for CAP!!!
I've been in for 5 years now, I've gotten my Earhart and been Cadet Commander for a year. I guess all I'm here for now is to help the less experienced cadets become proficient and professional. I'm in CAP to teach and mentor, and the day I'm no longer useful is the day I leave. I've had my fun...
I wouldn't mind getting C/Maj but frankly don't see it happening as I am a full-time college student and AFROTC cadet. So I guess my goal is just to be as much help as I can be before I turn 21 and leave the CP.
