Any Encampment...
But about the bees...
During a search line class, the cadets stumbled into a huge nest of ground hornets. There were more then 150 cadets running in complete panic with a few staff members and TACs trying to calm them down (but most just making it worse). Some cadets had 15+ stings. On top of that a thunderstorm that had been rolling in for some time, suddenly hit less then a minute later. Pretty chaotic.
We also got to hear the Command Chief's colorful language one time during an evening formation...not sure if you'd heard about that one yet...
All-in-all we had a pretty crazy, yet awesome Texas Wing Encampment this Summer.

Re: Encampment Horror Stories...
My encampment sucked plain and simple. First we had no real planning it was free for all every activity eventually got cancelled do to weather and on top of it all we got to do a 2.5 mile run. At the end of the week I was to the point of don't screw with me...still am.

Re: Encampment Horror Stories...
ok, so mine: I was at the Texas Wing Encampment 2007, and it was towards the last of the encampment. As most know, they have like a field day on one of the last days, where there are things like tug-of-war, dodgeball, frisbee and stuff like that. It was almost over, and I just happend to suggest to one of the staff that we should have a competition between two whole squadrons. Little was I thinking about all the pressure that we would have with that many people. Therefore, the competition started, and yes, the rope broke with everyone falling down on both sides. Yes, there were injuries. We had a flight sergeant in the hospital, along with a couple of other cadets including two from my flight. I landed on Isaac's hip, who was sore for awhile I believe.. My rear end was. Anyways, I guess this winter, I will not be suggesting any more "huge competitions." |
