Effective influence. It doesn't even require that you be in charge or even have a specific objective. Think of the new recruit looking up and seeing the Chief. If in his mind, he respects the Chief enough to use him as a role model, the Chief has exercised good leadership.

Leadership involves influencing and effecting others. This works best when guiding subordinates to accomplish a goal.

Rememebr, however, that we are in a bit of a structure here. Thus, we are called to be leaders...from the Wing Commander to lowest C/AB...leadership is key to accomplsing the missions.

Because of that greater calling, we are called to offer our respect to those in leadership positions. The position, however, does not automatically give that respect...it is the individuals actions that will solidify that.
