Urban Direction Finding (am in the process of Requalifying Now)- Texas SET LIST Approver
Ground Team Level 3
Mission Radio Operator- Texas SET LIST Approver
Mission Staff Assistant
Remember, qualification is not an "end" it is a beginning. You have to keep yourself as "current" as you can. That's what Semper Vigilans is about.

Re: Your ES quals.
SARTECH is the Ground Team qualifications created by NASAR (National Association for Search and Rescue). Unlike CAP Ground Team quals, they are recongnized by other organizations (including CAP) and therefore a very good thing to have.

I can almost guarantee you, that you are not SET qualified by the Wing. In Texas, having SET on your 101 does not mean you are SET qualified. You have to be on the special "list" and very few people are.

No, he is not on the list. I am not on the list either, I just have the qual "SET" which you need to even get considered for the SET list. MY squadron commander is going to try to get me on the list. We will see how that goes...

Well....I'm not too excited about the way CAP has been sluggish about expanding ES. Quite frankly, if CAP doesn't find something more then ELTs to deal with, then we're gonna be shut down in the next 5 years. ELTs are a thing of the past. It's time to find something else.

I couldn't agree more. If we could expand our ES range, we could achieve a lot more in a wider span.

That's true to an extent, but if we expand too much, we will be "treading" on other SAR organizations turf.
This would not be good for public relations.
However, I do agree that it would be nice to expand the amount of operations we conduct IN ADDTION to missing aircraft/ELT.
I know here in Colorado Springs, we will be working with different organizations (such as the red cross, all county SAR teams, military, etc) to increase our ES activity in natural disasters, missing people, and other emergency sitatutions.
Its most likely completely up to your Squadorn ESO to determine how active you are when your not searching for airplanes...........
